Installation of Door Security Features

Secondary locks, full-length bars, electronic auxiliary locks, panoramic and electronic peepholes, security strips, chains, anti-lift devices, plates under hardware, and more.

Although it often starts with the door itself, it’s not just the door that makes you feel safe at home – it’s also the additional features installed on it.

FAQ

I bought an electronic lock/handle but can't install it. Can I contact you?
Of course – that's what we're here for. We've installed many electronic additional locks and fittings.
What is a security strike-plate reinforcement and why do I need one?
A strike-plate reinforcement is a steel strengthening of the door frame at the point where the lock's bolts engage. Older frames are often made of thin sheet metal (or wood), making them a very weak point – sometimes a single strong kick is all it takes to break through.
Why get an additional (upper) lock?
It's a separate, independent lock. A potential intruder has to defeat two locks instead of one, increasing noise and the time needed to enter. An additional locking point also makes the door more resistant to being forced or kicked in.
What is an under-escutcheon plate?
It's a thin plate, usually stainless steel, inserted under the outer escutcheon. It forms an extra protective layer between an attacker and the lock inside the door. We fit it mainly on older wooden doors, where chipping away the wood around the lock is otherwise extremely easy. It often has an aesthetic function too.
Why have an escutcheon that covers the cylinder?
One effective break-in method is violently ripping out the cylinder core (the rotating part), instantly accessing the door's control mechanism. The method is relatively quick and quiet. Even a quality cylinder helps – but an escutcheon covering the cylinder is excellent protection against this technique.
What are anti-lift devices?
Lifting (even a locked door) off its hinges is another break-in method. Modern security doors are naturally immune to it. Older doors can be fitted with anti-lift devices quite easily and cheaply.
Electronic peephole – expensive comfort or real security?
Today's Wi-Fi peepholes offer more than a better viewing angle and a large display. They're continuously connected to your phone and offer a range of useful features.

They record motion, can capture footage, send notifications when someone lingers near your door, and let you communicate with whoever is outside through your phone from anywhere. Many also have night-vision LEDs and more.
I live on the ground floor – should I worry about window security too?
Yes. Standard plastic or wooden windows are often far more vulnerable than a regular front door and can represent an easier route in for an attacker. A skilled thief with enough time can even close them from outside after entering – leaving no signs of break-in.

Handles with locks or pin guards help against unwanted manipulation of the peripheral hardware from outside. An additional lock helps against both handle-drilling and prying. It's also worth considering security film against breaking the glass itself.
